Pinot Grigio does get its name from the colour of its skin. The grape does have a grey/blue colour. Maybe Pinot Blu Grigio didn’t have the same ring so they decided to stick with just Girgio.
First of all, we don’t grow Pinot Grigio here at Newman Estate Winery. It’s a very popular grape and a favourite of many. We don’t grow it here at Newman Estate Winery although it is a common request. Who knows, it might be something that we look into in the future.
